## Natural materials that let your skin breathe

Natural fabrics such as cotton, linen, hemp, silk and wool are made from animal or plant fibres, which makes them gentler on the skin.
By far the most widely used of these is cotton, a completely natural fibre obtained from the cotton plant. Cotton is soft, very pleasant to wear, absorbs moisture excellently and is a good insulator. It also does not spread unpleasant odours, because it prevents the growth of microorganisms.

Although cotton is a fairly durable fibre by its nature, it cannot compete in longevity with man-made fibres such as polyester and polyamide. These fibres, however, are not exactly pleasant to wear, so the clothing industry often blends them with natural cotton fibres. Since no fabric is perfect, a compromise has to be made.

## Colours that reflect the heat

Did you know that darker colours absorb more heat than light ones?

That is why black tiles by the pool are much hotter than white ones.

The same goes for clothing. In summer it is therefore advisable to choose light colours, which reflect the heat instead of absorbing it.

The head is our most sensitive and important part of the body, so it is essential to protect it. The sensation of heat can differ greatly when we wear something on our head.

Hair protects us from heatstroke to a certain extent, but you will only get real protection with suitable headwear, which also shields your eyes from the sun.
