> Sometimes, during hot summer days, a sudden cool-down surprises us, and with it wet weather.

### Cotton – a skin-friendly fabric

Because children are in the most active phase of life and rarely sit still, they often sweat. To prevent excessive sweating, it is important that children wear light and breathable clothing made of natural materials.
Cotton is the most gentle on children's skin, absorbs moisture well and is also suitable for allergy sufferers. Cotton has long been considered the best choice for the clothing of babies and small children, because it is comfortable, breathes and thus prevents the growth of microorganisms, does not spread unpleasant odours and does not irritate sensitive children's skin.

You have probably heard that ordinary cotton is not exactly ideal for wet weather. That is true, because it is very absorbent and draws moisture in.

But if we can get cotton that is impregnated with a water- and oil-repellent coating, we have found a material that will protect your little one from moisture and offer all the advantages of a natural fabric.

[Children's Camo trousers](https://www.utg-vodnik.si/otroske-igralne-hlace-camo) are made of 100% cotton and, thanks to a special treatment of the outer layer of the material, are oil- and water-repellent. This material was developed for the Slovenian army, so you can be confident of its quality.

### Patterned clothing

For children, dark clothing and patterned clothing have the added advantage of hiding mud splashes and other mess associated with bad weather. It is inevitable that your little one will not come back from exploring nature without a single stain. We can influence how visible it is simply by choosing darker colours or a pattern that makes a stain less obvious. A camouflage pattern is perfect for this purpose.

### Suitable footwear

When it comes to footwear, avoid suede or canvas shoes.

Such materials will not hold up well in the wet and, in the worst case, can even be permanently ruined! Instead, choose rubber boots or good hiking shoes that you have first sprayed with a waterproofing spray for footwear.

Ideally, your little one's footwear should have patterned rubber soles, as they have good grip, which will help prevent slipping on wet surfaces.
