## Durability

How durable do your work trousers need to be? The most durable kinds of work trousers use Cordura fabric. If you need something very hard-wearing, this is probably your best option. The downside of this fabric is that it can be somewhat stiff at first and can retain heat. That is why most work trousers are made from a combination of Cordura and a lighter but less durable fabric. Polyester also has very good wear resistance, but as a fabric on its own it is not very comfortable to wear. That is why, in the workwear trade, it is most often blended with cotton. The higher the proportion of polyester in the fabric, the more durable and hard-wearing – but less comfortable – the trousers will be.

Of course, you can also find lightweight work trousers, but make sure they make sense for your work. Will lightweight work shorts hold up? If they will, they are probably your best choice, especially in intense heat.

## Comfort

You need comfortable work trousers, because long days in uncomfortable trousers will feel even longer. Of course, fit can contribute to comfort too, but several other things can affect the comfort of your work trousers:

### Stretch fabric

Stretch fabric blends contain a little spandex or elastane to make work trousers flexible. This has become increasingly popular in recent years.
It lets you bend and stoop more easily.

The downside of such trousers is that this type of shorts is not always as durable in the long run.

### Breathable fabric

A fabric that wicks moisture and breathes can make a big difference in the heat.

Cotton is a natural fibre that absorbs and releases heat from the body, which makes the garment pleasant to wear on hot summer days.

Cotton is also kind to sensitive skin, and it is more affordable than clothing made from technologically advanced materials.

## Number of pockets

How many pockets do you need to do your job more easily? If trousers have more pockets sewn on than you need, this can only reduce agility and increase the weight of the work trousers. That helps no one. But too few pockets can also be a problem.
