The women's jacket Beyond Nordic BN301 V2 contains a RECCO chip. This chip helps rescuers in locating in case of an avalanche.
How can a small reflector help rescuers?
The RECCO® search system has two parts. A passive reflector, which you have as part of your clothing or equipment, returns signals to detectors that rescuers use to search for climbers or skiers buried in an avalanche.
The detector has a range of up to 20 meters in the event of an avalanche, but the more reflectors you have on you, the easier it will be for rescuers to find you. The advantage of the RECCO® transmitter is also its global use – it is the most widespread rescue system used by over 900 ski resorts and rescue services in 32 countries.
How can I check if my clothing has the RECCO® system?
You might not notice the reflector at first glance on your clothing. Although it weighs less than 4 grams, it will serve you for a lifetime. It does not need to be replaced, charged, or otherwise maintained; it works as a passive part of the RECCO® rescue system.
If you plan to go ski touring, skiing outside of ski slopes, or any activity in a challenging mountain environment with an increased avalanche risk, it is good to check if you have it on you. Look for the RECCO® sign on your clothing; on pants, it is mostly located below the ski boots, and on the jacket, check the sleeve or the back under the hood.
